What is it about young children and diggers? I’m sure every first time parent is filled with the same sense of wonder when they see their child’s eye bulging, owl screeching reaction to anything with wheels. After that, they discover the world of yellow and black, the digger world of dump trucks, excavators, bulldozers, cranes and the world of fire engines, ambulances, and trains. For some, this joy never ends but continues into adulthood.
With this in mind, long established, non-profit ESPRIT Childcare and the Sunshine Coast Teen Parent Society is celebrating this fascination by hosting “Digger Day”. This fundraiser for the ongoing care and support of ESPRIT’s children kicks off on Saturday, August 28th from 11am to 3pm in the back parking lot of Elphinstone Secondary.
Digger Day will have lots of different work trucks and heavy machinery for young and old to ogle. There will be local vendors, police ID kits for kids and a hot dog BBQ. Come out to meet Bob the Builder and get in the draw to win the handcrafted sandbox digger! The cost is $2.50 per person and this includes free corn on the cob.
